Essquire

Our breeding philosophy

Temperament, type and conformation—with welfare at the centre

Breeding is a responsibility to the dogs in our care and to the English Springer Spaniel as a breed. We do not plan a litter simply because puppies are wanted.

01

A clear reason for every litter

Each potential pairing is considered for the qualities it may contribute: stable temperament, sound construction, breed type, health and the ability to live well as a much-loved family companion.

02

Welfare before timing

Plans only proceed when the health, maturity and wellbeing of our dogs support them. Dates and pairings remain private until they are sufficiently confirmed.

03

Raised within the home

When a litter is born, puppies experience household life, gentle handling and age-appropriate enrichment. We observe each puppy carefully and match homes by temperament and lifestyle—not simply colour or order of enquiry.

04

Improving, not supplying

Essquire is a breeding programme, not a puppy store. We breed infrequently and with the aim of preserving the qualities that make a sound, recognisable and deeply companionable English Springer Spaniel.
